International activitiesThird mobility of project partners The third meeting of project partners was organized in the Czech Republic by Slezská Diakonie. The very first event was a welcoming concert with a brief spiritual energizer that took place on Sunday evening, 20 February 2011 in order to stimulate the participants and encourage their cooperation within the project. On Monday, the activities were focused on presenting the hospice movement in the Czech Republic. German partners organized an interactive seminar focused on the issues of Communication and Closeness/Distance. Birgit Slave (responsible for hospice work focused on children and young people in the German state of Baden-Württemberg) presented the work of German hospices for children and young people. At the end of Monday’s programme, all three project partners worked on national versions of the Curriculum. The determination of all partners to promote the work of mobile hospices and the idea of accompaniment of dying and mourning people found its practical expression in the international conference called “Final Stage of the Journey”. The conference was held at the Mojská Community Centre in the town of Český Těšín and attracted more than 150 participants (pastors, pastoral workers, members of various churches, social workers, health workers, secondary school students, municipality clerks and hospital chaplains). The visited facilities were as follows: St. Lucas Stationary Hospice in Ostrava (founder: Caritas Ostrava), Citadela Hospice in Valašské Meziříčí (founder: Diaconia of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren) and Bernadetka House of Peace and Conciliation in Nitra. The final evaluation of both the mobility and the 2-years partnership took place at a hotel in Nitra. For written outputs of the evaluation, see the Minutes of the Czech Mobility in Czech. Target destinations were Krakow and Bielsko-Biała. Click here to see the detailed programme. The five-day event peaked during the conference entitled “Don’t Be Afraid! You’re Not Alone!” in Bielsko-Biała. The conference offered funded lectures given by a physician from the mobile hospice in Bielsko-Biała, by the director of the partner organization of CME, by an academician from the Christian Theological Academy in Warsaw and by the representatives of the hospice foundation in Gdansk. Participants also could take part in a panel discussion, make use of new possibilities for networking and, least but not last, purchase specialized literature treating the issue of accompaniment of dying and mourning people. First mobility of project partners The first mobility was held from 30 October till 4th December 2009 at the German partner organization Ökumenische Sozialstation Heidenheim. Hospice work in the country of Baden-Würtenberg has been organized for more than 15 years and it is featured by much experience of both particular multidisciplinary team members and civic voluntary activities. Here you can download the programme agenda in German concerning this international meeting. The first joint meeting of partners played an important role in building an international team in sense of creating an atmosphere of mutual trust among participants, learning motivation of the partners and project aims both during the project and after its completion. The programme agenda completed by the German partner was manifold. We came to know the work and the hinterland of stationary and mobile hospices, how multidisciplinary teams work, learned both the professional staff and volunteers in hospice services, how the system of funding looks like and we also heard about the very beginnings of the hospice movement in Germany and about the publicity and lobby activities. Dissemination of the hospice and mobile hospice service idea among general public is a part of the project. Therefore journalists were invited to meet the project participants. Here you can read articles published in German newspapers that arose during the visit of the Czech (Slezská Diakonie) and Polish participants (CME Dzięgielów) in the German partner organization. Our photogallery will give you a picture of the atmosphere experienced in Germany. |
